Specialized Facilities
Microbiology Lab
This lab is certified to Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) and is fully equipped to support mass culture of axenic strains, microbial strain development, and challenge testing. Sanitary-fitted bioreactors and metering pumps are available for growth optimization studies and small production runs.
Plant Cell Lab
This temperature and light-controlled plant growth testing facility is available for tissue culture work, meristem propagation, and algae culture trials. Various photobioreactors are available for growth optimization studies or trial production runs.
Duckweed Culture
This lab was set up specifically for the isolation and experimental production of various Duckweed species and strains. Testbeds provide uniform lighting with precise intensities to support comparative growth optimization studies. Prototype production bioreactors are available for scale-up trials.
Anaerobic Culture
This facility’s fully equipped lab supports the isolation and propagation of anaerobic microorganisms. A variety of incubators, anaerobic growth chambers and bioreactors enable the handling and testing of microbial consortiums and microbiomes for digestion applications.
